individe: a novella
Two estranged brothers embark on a road trip from blizzard-ravaged Ontario to the warm climes of West Florida. On the way they experience the abrasions and idiosyncrasies of American society while attempting to close the divide that had grown between them. In doing so they are tasked with reconciling with the lingering effects of their familial and personal pasts, and finding new paths into the uncertain futures ahead of them.

"As the appointed day approached, we were glad to be packing our bags, readying to leave. A new February storm was announcing itself over the airwaves, set to arrive just as we would be taking our leave of the country. A cold wash of polar vortex would be making another sweep over the rocky shore of Upper Laurentia, threatening to send the mercury down to minus 30 degrees Celsius and dump a great deluge of snow upon the land. We weren’t going to stick around for that. With an almost frantic response, we packed our bags and loaded the car. Not so much a vacation as an evacuation. There was a mounting thrill of dodging a sucker punch as the radio started broadcasting another snowpocalypse full of warnings and forboding... So as the distant footfall of another woolly winter mammoth was heard behind the horizon, we were slipping out after finishing our respective workdays, running for the border before the front closed in."
